Eddy Kenzo has no kind words for people who are criticizing him for poorly executing a rendition of Philly Bongole’s song, Born in Africa.
During a press conference, Kenzo said he is not bothered by critics and considers their statements as background noise.
“If you think my version of the song is bad. Don’t listen to it. You can listen to the original,” he said.
He went on to brag how his music is bigger than Philly Bongole’s music.
“My songs have millions of views. I didn’t do his rendition to become a bigger artist because I’m already up there. I did the song to give it more mileage. Philly is not here to sing it. I’m going to sing it in Senegal, Ghana, and all the stages I will be at. I don’t think anyone else who did the same rendition has a bigger reach than mine,” he added.
Many music critics urge that this should be the last time Kenzo remakes any of the legends' music. He is considered a 'murderer' of renditions.
