Veteran Ugandan musician King Michael has opened up about the challenges he faced while trying to organize his upcoming concert, revealing that several promoters declined to invest in the event despite his long-standing presence in the music industry.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station, the singer expressed disappointment over the reluctance of promoters to support his concert plans, saying he does not understand why they doubted his ability to attract a crowd.

King Michael pointed out that some of his biggest songs, including Kwata Kwata and Muko Muko, have remained popular and continue to receive airplay more than a decade after their release.

“I’ve had songs like Kwata Kwata and Muko Muko that have had massive airplay for over a decade. I don’t see why no one would want to invest in me because my fans would come through,” King Michael explained.

The singer revealed that after failing to secure support from established promoters, he reached out to one of his wealthy friends, who agreed to back the project and asked him to provide a detailed budget for everything required to stage the show.

With the financial support now secured, King Michael is preparing for his highly anticipated concert scheduled for August 1, 2026, at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The concert will mark a significant milestone in his career as he seeks to prove that his music still commands a loyal audience despite the challenges he faced in finding investors.
