Western Uganda-based singer Ray G has challenged fellow musicians to become more creative, saying the industry needs fresh ideas to continue growing.

Speaking during an interview with a local television station, the outspoken singer acknowledged that Uganda's music industry has made significant progress over the years but believes creativity remains one of its biggest shortcomings.

According to Ray G, many artistes rely on the same formulas instead of constantly reinventing themselves and exploring new concepts.

"I think our industry is performing much better than before. However, I believe we are still lacking creativity in some areas. We need to keep coming up with fresh ideas instead of repeating the same formulas," he partly explained.

Ray G, who has previously spoken out on several industry issues, urged musicians to embrace innovation and originality if they want Ugandan music to remain competitive both locally and internationally.

His remarks have sparked fresh debate among music fans and industry stakeholders about the need for greater creativity in Uganda's entertainment sector.
