The internal affairs committee of parliament is today meeting leaders of Kasese district to discuss the recent clashes that led to the death of over 100 people and many others incarcerated.

The committee chairperson Judith Nabakooba says they expect the strategic leaders to help them understand the root cause of these clashes.

The committee will also meet area members of parliament in Kasese to find out what exactly happened, why the Omusinga Charles Mumbere and his subjects were arrested, and how many people died as different security agencies are giving different numbers.

The minister of internal affairs Gen. Jeje Odong told parliament yesterday that 104 people had died; former defense minister Hon. Crispus Kiyonga put the death toll to 150, head of military intelligence said 64, while the minister of defence talked of 78.

This has left the country confused and the committee intends to find out what really happened. They will also investigate reports that there were children and women in the palace at the time of the attack who are still unaccounted for.

This has since been disputed by the military and internal affairs minister Gen. Odong.
