Mabonga said they are glad to be part of the life saving struggle.

Tumwesigye thanked Galaxy Fm for the gesture; ‘’It takes someone of a big heart to give this kind of amount. We are really really grateful’’ Said Tumwesigye

According to Tumwesigye, the hunt for over sh9bn will go towards the construction of two cancer bunkers at Nsambya Hospital.

A modern cancer treatment machine called a linear accelerator will be installed in these bankers for the treatment of cancer patients.

The event will start and end at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds with participants running 21km, 10km and 5kms respectively.

Tickets for the run are being sold at sh25,000 at Centenary Bank branches, Capital Shoppers outlets, Game Store at Lugogo and Rotary offices on NIC building.

The Minister of State for Primary Health Care, Joyce Moriku Kaducu recently revealed that more than 21,000 cancer deaths were registered by the Kampala Cancer Registry in 2018.

However, according to current evidence, 30% to 50% of cancer deaths could be prevented by modifying or avoiding key risk factors such as tobacco use, excessive alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, unhealthy eating habits and obesity.
