Traffic Police: Reckless Driving caused Nakasongola bus Accident that 16 Injured

Traffic police spokesperson, ASP Faridah Nampiima, has confirmed the incident and blamed it on reckless driving by the driver of the bus.

Traffic police have revealed that the nasty car crash on Monday, January 09, that left 16 passengers injured was due to reckless driving.

The incident happened in Bamusuuta village, Katuugo town council in Nakasongola district along Kampala -Gulu highway when a Bus belonging to Valley Bus Company registration number UAR 655M lost control and overturned at 10 pm.

Traffic police spokesperson, ASP Faridah Nampiima, has confirmed the incident and blamed it on reckless driving by the driver of the bus.

She says the victims who were rushed to hospital by good Samaritans are receiving treatment at Nakasongola Health Centre IV, St Franciscan Health Centre IV and Kasana Hospital Luwero.

The injured include Maria Namiiro, a resident of Kisaasi, Evon Komugisha of Kanyanya, Harriet Nakyanzi of Masanafu, Milly Naluwu of Banda, Monica Ayinembabazi of Seeta, Faridah Name of Kasangati, and Juliet Nazziwa of Nabingo ,Jackline Kemirembe of Kyankwanzi, Eva Nalubega of Mityana, Janet Nakyeyune of Namulanda, Juliet Namusiisi of Kaleezi, Annet Tumukunde of Kanyanya, Hafuswa Nakanwagi of Mukono, Hajarah Nankalubo of Mpigi district and Fatuma Namale of Kalerwe. 

In a latest report released by the Traffic police for the past seven days between January 1 and 8, 2023, 340 accidents happened of which 79 people died while 245 were injured.

Nampiima has since attributed the accidents to reckless driving, drivers drifting to other lanes, drunk driving, driving while speaking on mobile phones and overtaking in dangerous spots.
