Musician Spice Diana has shared her thoughts on the future of female artistes in Uganda, expressing concern about the challenges facing those entering the industry today.
Speaking about the growth of female musicians, Spice Diana said established artistes still have a bright future, particularly those who continue working hard and making strategic career decisions.
She pointed to veteran singers such as Irene Namatovu and Grace Nakimera, who have returned to the stage and held well-received concerts, as examples of how artistes can maintain successful careers over the years.
“The ones that have been there for some time, you have seen concerts, for example, Mama Irene and Grace Nakimera coming back and doing amazing shows. The future is bright for them,” she said.
Spice Diana added that established artistes can continue thriving as long as they remain committed to their careers and work both hard and strategically.
“Then, for us, the future is still bright if you work hard and smart,” she added.
However, she expressed concern for new female artistes joining the industry, saying they face a highly competitive environment with many challenges.
“For the new ones, I feel sorry for them. They are in an industry that has so much going on,” she said.
