Businessman Frank Gashumba has urged wealthy individuals to enjoy the fruits of their hard work while they are still alive instead of sacrificing their quality of life in pursuit of accumulating more wealth.
Gashumba argued that there is little value in building substantial wealth and property while continuing to live modestly when the money could be used to improve one’s lifestyle.
“How can you have arcades in Kampala and you still eat in low-end restaurants? How can you be so rich and it’s these pedicure small boys be the ones cutting your nails?” he questioned.
He encouraged people to upgrade their lifestyles as their financial circumstances improve, arguing that wealth should translate into a better quality of life.
“If God elevates you, elevate everything about you. Make the will, but enjoy your time on earth too. It doesn’t make sense to be so rich, and you sleep and live poor. What’s the point of having the money then?” he said.
Gashumba also advised wealthy people to make their lives easier by hiring help for everyday tasks, including chefs to prepare their meals.
“Enjoy yourself when you are here and when you die, leave the rest to those who will be alive to handle,” he added.
