The Gene Drive Technology, which is being done under the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), is preferential transmission of genes intended for curbing malaria. 

In a ceremony held this morning in Mubende District, the epicenter of the outbreak, Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng stated that since the last patient was discharged on November 30, 2022, no patient has been registered.

The UNEB scout was first isolated on Tuesday afternoon at Igayaza Health Centre III and later evacuated to Mubende Main Hospital after presenting with severe headache, general body pain, fever, and bleeding through the mouth. 

The number of cases of Ebola in the Greater Kampala region has reached 14 within the last 48 hours the Ministry of Health has confirmed.

The two were admitted to the isolation unit at Kitgum General Hospital and their samples were taken to the virus research Institute in Entebbe for testing on Thursday.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, the MOH spokesperson said the discharged patients are from Mubende Regional Referral Hospital.

Dr. Okello says the male patient with his friends boarded a taxi plying the Mubende-Sembabule-Masaka road to the town and went in separate directions.

Health officials in Amuru District have confirmed an outbreak of the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever in the area. 

Masaka City has registered its first suspected Ebola Virus Disease, EVD case. The patient has been admitted to an isolation ward at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.
