I Will Continue Supporting Bobi Wine Despite Running Independently – Winfred Nakandi

Politician Winfred Nakandi has confirmed that she will contest for the Nakawa East Constituency seat as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2026 general elections.

Nakandi said she is ready to represent the people of Nakawa East, with her focus set on amplifying the voices of the voiceless and underprivileged.

Despite her decision to run independently, Nakandi reaffirmed her unwavering support for Bobi Wine and the National Unity Platform (NUP), saying she will campaign for the party’s presidential candidate across her constituency.

“Although I am contesting as an independent candidate in the upcoming general elections, my president remains Bobi Wine. I will mobilize support for him across Nakawa East and also protect his vote in Kampala,” she said.

Nakandi further stressed that she still considers herself a member of the National Unity Platform and remains committed to contributing to its growth and development.

Previously, Nakandi had expressed interest in contesting for the Kampala Woman MP seat on the NUP ticket but later withdrew, citing favoritism and irregularities during the party’s selection process.
