Musician Carol Nantongo has condemned the public ridicule directed at fellow singer Irene Ntale over her struggles to have children, saying insensitive comments can cause emotional pain.
Speaking in an interview with the media, Nantongo noted that many people assume celebrities are unaffected by criticism, yet they experience emotional struggles just like anyone else.
She said members of the public often make hurtful remarks without knowing what celebrities may be going through in their private lives.
“They can tell you something, and you get traumatised and depressed, yet they don’t know what’s going on in your house. When we speak up, they say we talk a lot, and when we don’t speak at all, they ridicule us,” Nantongo said in part.
The singer also expressed sympathy for Ntale, saying she and others would continue praying for her as she hopes to experience motherhood.
“We shall pray for God’s grace over her because she wants to experience motherhood,” she added.
