Makerere University Guild President Churchill Sentamu, who also happens to be Bobi Wine’s nephew, has expressed his readiness to work with the government for the good of Ugandan youth.

Sentamu, who was recently nominated to contest for Youth MP – Central Region, said he is not aligned to any political party and intends to run as an independent candidate.

“I am not aligned to any political party. I’m running independently and my goal is to deliver uncompromising leadership to the youth. I want leadership that unites in diversity and addresses the challenges affecting young people. I’m not working for the red camp or the yellow camp — I want to work with everyone for the development of the youth,” he said in an interview with a local TV station.

Churchill Sentamu’s stance doesn’t come as a surprise to many. Earlier this year, he was expelled from the National Unity Platform (NUP) after losing the party flag for the Makerere Guild race and choosing to contest as an independent.

Over time, Sentamu has openly defied his father, Fred Nyanzi, and his uncle Bobi Wine. He once made headlines after posing for a photo with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, a move that stirred massive controversy online.

Sentamu, however, defended his actions, saying he was simply fulfilling his duties as Guild President and was honored to welcome the President to the university.
