Kalungu East MP-elect Yusuf Nkerettanyi Junior has finally come out to dismiss the ongoing rumors linking him to businesswoman and social media personality Irene Mirembe, popularly known as Mirembe Beddings.
Speaking in an interview with a local YouTuber, Nkerettanyi clarified that he is only friends with Mirembe and her husband, and that there is nothing romantic going on between them.
He described the people spreading the allegations as detractors and business competitors, claiming they are deliberately targeting Mirembe in a bid to damage her brand and reputation.
“Her critics are just targeting her business. I am a married man and I wouldn’t want to discuss such things. I am friends with Mirembe Beddings and her husband, and I know they are doing well at the moment,” Nkerettanyi said.
The MP-elect further emphasized that he is a happily married man, living peacefully with his wife and children, and that the rumors have not affected him in any way since they are false and baseless.
Last month, social media was flooded with gossip suggesting that Nkerettanyi and Mirembe were secretly involved, claims that both parties have now publicly denied.
Despite the clarifications, the story continues to trend online, with many netizens divided over whether to believe the explanations or not.
