Minister of Agriculture Frank Tumwebaze has dismissed speculation about his health, clarifying that his recent weight loss is deliberate and not a result of illness.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tumwebaze said he had received numerous “quick recovery” messages from concerned supporters who assumed his slimmer appearance meant he was unwell.

“I am not sick. My new looks are intentional,” he stated.

A Healthier Lifestyle

Speaking from the National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi, where he is attending the National Resistance Movement retreat, Tumwebaze explained that his transformation is the result of conscious lifestyle changes.

He emphasized that intentional weight loss—through diet, exercise, and discipline—should be seen as a positive achievement rather than a cause for concern.

Warning Against Misconceptions

The minister also addressed what he called a dangerous mindset in society—equating weight gain with good health and slimness with sickness.

“The battle against non-communicable diseases is far from being won,” he noted.

He urged health professionals and the public to take lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease more seriously.

“Obesity Is Not a Badge of Honor”

Tumwebaze concluded with a strong message against glorifying excessive weight.

“Obesity has never been a badge of honor,” he said.

His remarks have sparked conversations around body image and health awareness, with many praising him for using his platform to promote wellness and proactive living.
