Media personality Isaac Katende, popularly known as Kasuku, has shared his views on long-distance relationships, arguing that they rarely stand the test of time because partners eventually grow apart.
Speaking during a discussion on a local podcast, Kasuku said living in different countries or environments often changes people's lifestyles, perspectives, and expectations, making it difficult to maintain a healthy relationship.
Using the example of a couple separated between Kampala and Canada, Kasuku explained that exposure to different cultures can create a disconnect between partners.
"Your partner will come back seeing you as local because they're used to seeing people move freely and dress how they want back in Canada. Long-distance relationships are a waste of time," he partly explained.
Kasuku also questioned the reliability of video calls in sustaining relationships, arguing that people often present idealized versions of themselves on camera rather than their true personalities.
According to him, this makes it difficult for partners to fully understand each other's day-to-day lives and can create unrealistic expectations.
His remarks have sparked debate online, with some agreeing that distance places significant strain on relationships, while others maintain that trust, communication, and commitment can help long-distance couples succeed.
