Grammy award-winning R&B genius, and probably the genre’s best lyricist, Ne-Yo will be joining the entertainment line-up at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) billed to take place at the Durban International Convention Centre on Saturday, 18 July 2015.
Armed with multiple platinum singles, four hit albums and three Grammy awards, the hit-maker is ready to share his latest works with the world.
Ne-Yo will mostly be performing songs from his sixth album Non-Fiction and has said he’s excited to be perform in Durban for the first time. “I can’t wait for you to see what I have in store Durban. I hope you’re ready, because I am,” he said.
Senior Vice President & Managing Director at Viacom International Media Networks Africa, Alex Okosi said: “We are very excited to welcome Ne-Yo to the MAMAs 2015 for his first ever appearance in Durban. As a sensational live perfomer and truly accomplished R&B star, Ne-Yo’s an all-round class act who’ll greatly complement the African performers on the show.”
Since making his big debut in 2006 with the single So Sick, Ne-Yo hasn’t stopped serving his fans with hits, as well as writing chart-topping tracks for the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna, the late Michael Jackson and many others.
Ne-Yo last performed in SA in January 2013 at a private event held at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. Prior to that, the R&B hit-maker had last performed here in 2010.
The MAMAs 2015 will be broadcast live across Africa on MTV Base (DStv channel 322), MTV (DStv channel 130) and BET (DStv channel 129) on Saturday 18 July at 9pm. Tickets for the show are on sale at Computicket, priced from R267 (standing). A percentage of the proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to deserving causes in KwaZulu-Natal.
Meanwhile Bebe Cool was nominated in the same awards....we pray he wins.
