Gossip columnist Kasuku has revealed that the quality of music in Uganda has declined because artists are no longer focused on music but rather on politics.
Kasuku explained that the artists who should be making good music are preoccupied with politics, which has allowed mediocre music to thrive.
"Today, the music industry isn’t about music, which is why the quality is not as good as it used to be. Those who should be making the music we want are involved in national politics," he partly said in an interview with NTV Uganda.
Kasuku emphasized that politics poses a significant challenge to the music industry, as musicians are divided along political lines.
"National politics has divided Uganda's musicians. Some support the government, while others are with the opposition. It’s a big challenge for the industry," he noted.
The Ugandan music industry became politically active in 2017 when Bobi Wine, one of its pillars, joined active politics.
