Musician Pius Mayanja, also known as Pallaso, has officially declared support for the National Unity Platform (NUP) as the election season continues to take shape.
Pallaso declared his support for the biggest opposition party on his X handle, revealing that immediate change is needed for the good of the country.
"Immediate action is needed. Our future depends on change. I support NUP, let's go Uganda; you deserve better. The time to change is now," he wrote.
Pallaso further stated that change is necessary because the music industry deserves better and he believes the current government is not doing enough to address challenges faced by artists.
"Taxes from entertainment are high, but the industry suffers. I support laws to create jobs and grow culture. We lost money to telecoms over caller tunes, but they wait until after elections to fix it. Musicians suffer; our future is at risk," he added.
The singer further explained challenges affecting different Ugandans as his reason for supporting the opposition.
He narrated the inadequacy of medical care and facilities, bad roads, and unemployment, among other issues.
"Medical costs are too high; roads are bad. Education is a privilege. Young people are our biggest resource, but many have no future. Many seek jobs abroad, missing chances to be pilots or doctors. We must build local opportunities," he revealed.
Pallaso's decision to endorse the National Unity Platform comes days after he missed out on Sevo's cash. He did not perform at his nomination rally in Kololo.
Pallaso was also not invited to President Museveni's album launch, which took place at Speke Resort in Munyonyo.
Pallaso announced he will be joining Bobi Wine on his campaign trail across the country.
