Singer Pia Pounds has finally revealed why she walked away from the Uganda National Musicians Federation — and her words are explosive!
Pia was among the pioneer members of the federation, spending countless days and nights at the Mutundwe headquarters as leaders, led by Eddy Kenzo, pushed for amendments to Uganda’s copyright law.
At the time, artists were promised a brighter future — better protection, better pay, and stronger rights over their music.
But months later, Pia says nothing tangible has materialized.
Frustrated by what she calls endless delays, the “Tupaate” hitmaker stopped showing up at the federation offices and quietly shifted her focus back to her personal music career.
“They gave us false promises. They have delayed to deliver the copyright law and I since lost interest in the federation. I no longer feel that can be achieved,” she said in an interview with a local YouTuber.
Ouch!
Pia didn’t stop there. She claimed the federation’s leadership appears to have shifted attention toward politics, leaving the copyright fight hanging.
According to her, the once-energizing dream of reform now feels distant — and she no longer believes the amendment will come to pass under the current leadership.
