Musician Michael Mukwaya, popularly known as Mike Wine, has said that Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine are among the biggest contributors to the growth of Uganda’s music industry.
According to Mike Wine, the two artistes have played a major role not only through their own music careers but also by mentoring and supporting many younger musicians who later became stars.
He argued that much of the current strength of Uganda’s music industry can be traced back to the influence of the two veteran musicians.
“The two artistes who have made many musicians and boosted talent are Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine. They have had a huge impact on the entire industry,” Mike Wine said.
He noted that Bobi Wine helped nurture several artistes, including himself, Eddy Kenzo, Sizza Man, Buchaman, Toolman, Zex Bilangilangi, Dax Vibez, and Maro.
Mike Wine also credited Jose Chameleone for supporting and mentoring artistes such as King Saha, Pallaso, and the late Mowzey Radio and Weasel.
He said their willingness to invest in younger talent helped shape the current music landscape in Uganda and contributed significantly to the industry’s growth.
