Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz has found himself entangled in a legal battle after his collaboration with Juma Jux, titled 'Enjoy,' was taken down from YouTube due to alleged copyright violations. The deletion of the song from YouTube left fans bewildered. This incident comes in the wake of accusations that Diamond Platnumz had been borrowing musical concepts from Nigerian artists, stemming from his collaboration with Juma Jux.
Sapologuano Odenumz, a Congolese artist, asserted that the melody in Diamond and Jux's song closely resembled his composition, "I Found Love." Odenumz claimed that his melodies had been incorporated into their song without proper authorization. He revealed that he had filed a copyright claim against the song, stating, "Yes, I copyright struck the song because it is the melody of my song 'I Found Love' and it was found in their song 'Enjoy.'"
The dispute escalated into a legal conflict, with Diamond Platnumz and Juma Jux reportedly taking legal action against Odenumz through their music distribution company. Odenumz, speaking from the Congo, expressed surprise at the similarities and attempted to address the issue with Juma Jux but claimed to have received no response. Odenumz's dissatisfaction led him to file a complaint with YouTube, resulting in the removal of the audio track. He revealed that YouTube invited him to engage in negotiations for a resolution.
In seeking fair compensation for his creative work, Odenumz emphasized the importance of acknowledging the efforts of fellow artists and creators, especially among the younger generation.
