Singer Shakira Shakira has revealed that she stepped away from the music industry to focus on building a clothing business, saying it has become more profitable than her music career.
Speaking in an interview with a local YouTuber, the Lokomoti hitmaker said she now runs a clothing shop in downtown Kampala, where she sells a variety of fashion items to her customers.
Shakira Shakira disclosed that venturing into business was not initially her idea. She credited her manager with encouraging her to invest her money more wisely instead of spending it without building a sustainable source of income.
"My manager is the one who dragged me into the clothing business. I wasn't interested at first, but he felt I was wasting a lot of money," she said.
The singer added that the business has exceeded her expectations and now earns her more money than music ever did.
Shakira Shakira's experience reflects a growing trend among Ugandan artistes who are investing in businesses outside the entertainment industry to create long-term financial stability while continuing to pursue their passions.
