Officers at Muko police station, Rubanda district are in panic after a suspect committed suicide while in their custody.
Gerald Wednesday, 19, a resident of Nyarurambi cell was arrested on Wednesday, alongside another suspect Godfrey Owobugabe, with whom he allegedly broke into a shop in Nfasha trading Center Muko Sub County.
According to Rubanda District Police Commander Tai Ramadhan, the duo was suspected to stealing four million Shillings.
The Kigezi Region police spokesperson Elly Maate tells Howwe.Biz that Wednesday, hanged himself using a piece of blanket after he was left in isolation, while his co-accused stepped out for a meal.
Wednesday’s body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
