Panic ensued at Pallisa police station after an officer identified as AIP George William Kaweesi, 45, attached to the Field Force Unit in Pallisa shot and killed himself.

The incident happened on Monday 15th August 2022 after his arrival at the barracks.

According to Immaculate Emilly Alaso the PRO Bukedi North, Kaweesi reported to Pallisa police station on transfer as OC - FFU, from Magamaga and was allocated a house in the FFU barracks located in senior quarters where other FFU personnel and other officers attached to the medical unit stay.

‘’The deceased who was well dressed in his full FFU uniform and armed with his SMG, was helped by other FFU officers to put his property inside the room," said Alaso.

On 16th August at around 1030 hours, deceased’s wife identified as Hellen Akia reported to the barracks claiming that she had been calling the husband's phone but he was not picking up.

Officers went to his house and tried to open his door but it was locked from inside prompting them to peep through the window and they saw Kaweesi’s lifeless body on the mat soaked in a pool of blood.

The district CID officer together with scene of crime personnel visited the house and documented the scene. They recovered an SMG riffle with 29 rounds of ammunition with its safety catch open and a Star pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition and one bullet in the chamber.

The deceased's body is lying at Pallisa General hospital for postmortem examination.
