The police in Kibaale have in custody a 25-year-old man accused of stabbing his sibling to death over 2,000 Shillings.

The police in Kibaale have in custody a 25-year-old man accused of stabbing his sibling to death over 2,000 Shillings. 

The suspect has been identified as Pascal Busobozi while the deceased is his 16-year-old brother Fred Asiimwe both residents of Igomero village in Kayoola parish Bwamiramira sub-county. 

The incident happened around 11 pm on Monday night.

According to, Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, it is alleged that the deceased owed Busobozi 2,000 Shillings that he gave him on Friday last week. 

The two brothers allegedly picked up a quarrel when the deceased failed to pay back prompting Busobozi who was armed with a sharp knife to stab him in the stomach.

He bled profusely and was rushed to EMESCO Health center III where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The family head Edward Kyaligonza said that he heard Asiimwe screaming for help and rushed to see what was happening only to find him lying in a pool of blood.

He says that he mobilized residents who rushed him to the health facility but he breathed his last upon arrival at the health center. Hakiza says that the residents teamed up and arrested the suspect and handed him over to the police. Police also recovered a blood-stained knife from the suspect.

He is currently in custody at Kibaale central police station and will appear in court for murder.
