Earlier this week, the Uganda National Cultural Centre, the body which manages the National Theatre, moved to close the UMA offices at the building over rent arrears.
It's alleged that the Uganda Musicians Association has spent almost a year without clearing its rent bills, and there is no assurance of them doing so in the near future.
At the moment, the President's office, that of the Secretary General, and others have already been sealed off, and no entrance is permitted, leaving Cindy and Phina Masanyalaze effectively jobless.
The President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation, also a presidential advisor on creatives, Eddy Kenzo, has promised to rescue the UMA offices.
Kenzo explained that UMA had done a tremendous job before UNMF came into existence, and they will not let them down. They will intervene and see how UMA can regain access to their offices.
"We shall make sure the offices open up. We can't just let them down; they have been here and done whatever they did. They have done the job before us; we shall see how we can intervene and make it better," he explained in an interview with a local television station.
It should be noted that UMA, under Cindy's leadership, has been very critical of the federation. They have always been engaging in verbal attacks against one another, particularly Cindy and Eddy Kenzo.
The verbal attacks have come as the two have been battling over the leadership of musicians in the country.
