Award-winning musician David Lutalo has ignited conversation among fans after claiming he played a major role in discovering and introducing Ziza Bafana to the Ugandan music industry.
Speaking during an interview with a local YouTuber over the weekend, Lutalo revealed that he met Bafana years ago when the dancehall star was still searching for a breakthrough platform. According to Lutalo, he introduced Bafana to several established musicians—including Eddy Kenzo—and offered him opportunities to perform on different stages around Kampala.
Lutalo explained that from the first encounter, he saw Bafana’s passion, talent, and lyrical strength.
“I told him he was going to be a star. He was very talented and lyrically powerful. From years back, he was determined, and I noticed that from our first meeting,” Lutalo said.
He believes the early mentorship and exposure he provided were crucial in building Bafana’s confidence and shaping his music identity. Through determination and resilience, Ziza Bafana eventually rose to become one of the country’s biggest dancehall figures, known for his energetic performances and chart-topping hits.
The remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising Lutalo for supporting young talent, while others argue that Bafana’s success was purely his own hard work.
