Musician Edirisa Musuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo, has claimed that the National Unity Platform (NUP) has significantly lost popularity across Uganda compared to the early days of the People Power movement.
Kenzo, who was among the pioneer supporters of the movement before it officially transitioned into NUP, now works closely with President Museveni’s government and has been vocal about his frustrations with the opposition party’s direction.
During an interview with a local television station, the Big Talent boss said that many NUP members have become disillusioned due to what he termed as a lack of focus within the party.
He revealed that several party members have already quit and joined other political groups out of frustration.
“NUP has lost popularity. They need to consult me on how to regain it, after all I’m one of the founders. It’s something which has lost support yet it was very popular when we started it,” Kenzo said.
Kenzo believes the party leadership should reach out to him to seek guidance on rebuilding nationwide support.
Despite his criticism, NUP remains the largest opposition political party in Uganda as the country heads toward the January 2026 polls.
