Musician and politician Kalifah Aganaga has reaffirmed his parliamentary ambitions, revealing that he plans to contest for a parliamentary seat in the 2031 General Election.
Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Aganaga said he is already building grassroots support and strengthening his political structures ahead of the next election.
The singer explained that he deliberately chose not to contest in the 2026 elections because he did not want to split opposition votes while Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola was facing strong competition from the NRM candidate, Faridah Nambi.
"I am coming in 2031 to remove Nalukoola from Parliament. I don't see anything he has done for us. I chose not to contest in 2026 out of respect for him as a fellow opposition politician because I didn't want to divide the votes and give Nambi an advantage," he partly explained.
Aganaga expressed confidence that by 2031 he will have built a strong enough support base to challenge and defeat Nalukoola at the polls.
The singer has previously contested for political office and has repeatedly stated that he intends to remain active in Uganda's political landscape despite past electoral setbacks.
