Reports of Grenade's arrest in China emerged online on Saturday night.

Joram Mukisa, his manager, has opened up about the reasons for his arrest, revealing it's because he performed in China while on a tourist visa.

Mukisa explained that he accompanied Grenade to China for a visit, but while there, Grenade secured a gig for a performance in Guangzhou.

"I am here in China. We entered China with Grenade for normal business, as this is a business country. When we arrived, promoters gave us some performance opportunities to add some extra income to our pockets. We did the first gig in Guangzhou, and it went well," he explained.

He performed without obtaining a work permit, which contravenes Chinese laws.

"Grenade found himself performing on a tourist visa, yet he needed a work permit to be authorized to perform in China. He has been arrested for working while on a tourist visa. The laws here are strict," Joram Mukisa explained in a video making rounds online.

However, the manager assured fans and followers of Grenade Official that they are engaging with authorities to see him freed from jail.

"We are trying to engage the authorities who can help us here, but the language barrier is an issue. God willing, we shall get to the bottom of it," he added.
