Over the weekend, Pastor Wilson Bugembe celebrated his 20th anniversary at the Serena Hotel in Kampala. The main guest at the event was the Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister, Charles Peter Mayiga, who congratulated Bugembe on the milestone.
Charles Peter Mayiga surprised attendees when he revealed that he has never experienced poverty in his lifetime. Mayiga explained that while he understands the difficulties and struggles that people with low incomes go through, he has never faced it personally because he was born into a well-off family.
"I have never experienced poverty in my whole life. I know poverty and what people go through, but I have never gone through it personally," he explained.
The Katikiro was responding to a question from Pastor Bugembe, who, while performing his song "Katonda Wabanaku," asked him if he had ever experienced poverty.
Pastor Wilson Bugembe's concert has since stirred debate and controversy online regarding its production and creative decisions.
