The National Unity Platform party on Monday night finally released its list of official flag bearers for the upcoming 2026 general elections.
Different people in the music industry and media won big after being declared flag bearers in designated constituencies.
Many of them have beaten bigwigs in their constituencies to claim the party tickets, causing a stir on social media.
Musician Mathias Walukaaga beat Medard Segona for the Busiro East constituency MP position.
Actress Mukisa Proscovia beat incumbent Joyce Bagala to the party ticket in Mityana district Woman MP position.
Musician Nina Kakunda, also known as Nina Roz, was also given the party ticket to run for the position in Sembabule district.
Artistes who have retained their party flags include Hillary Kiyaga aka Dr Hilderman in Mawokota North constituency in Mpigi District.
Geoffrey Lutaaya in Kakuuto constituency in Kyotera district also retained the party flag.
The manager to Rema Namakula, Kayemba Solo Geoffrey, also retained his party flag for Bukomansibi South County.
In media, Zambali Bulasio Mukasa finally received the blessings and will run for Nansana Municipality MP position.
Kyeyune Ivan, popularly known for NTV's Zugulu, was endorsed for Nakasongola County.
Others are Muyonjo Hussein, also known as Swegere, who was endorsed to carry the party flag in Jinja Northern division constituency.
Media personality Anyole Innocent was also endorsed to carry the party's flag in Kagoma County in Jinja district.
Despite the wins for the entertainment industry, others have lost, including Joyce Bagala, a veteran media personality; musician Big Eye; TV personality Tuff B; Comedian Reign; Bukedde's Flavia Namulidwa; and Simba Fm's Sure man Segawa, among others.
