Stand-up comedian Patrick Salvado Idringi has shed light on the struggles faced by comedians and other creatives in the country, citing poor event management and lack of originality as major setbacks in the industry.

Speaking during an exclusive interview on Spark TV’s Mwasuze Mutya with Stella Nante, Salvado revealed that one of the biggest challenges for comedians is juggling multiple bookings — a task often made harder by event organizers’ poor time management.

“One of the challenges we face as comedians is having several shows to attend on the same day, but some organizers start or finish late, which affects our schedules,” Salvado noted.

The Problem of Copying and Lack of Research

The celebrated comedian also delved into why many entertainment projects and startups struggle to survive, blaming it on copycat culture and poor research.

“The problem is that people see something and copy it without thinking deeply. Someone may start a project but fail to sustain it because they haven’t done enough research on how to keep it going,” he explained.

Salvado’s remarks have resonated with many in the creative industry, sparking fresh discussions on the need for professionalism, originality, and innovation among Ugandan entertainers and entrepreneurs.
