Troubled musician Grace Khan is reportedly stuck in a rehabilitation facility in Kampala after failing to clear unpaid bills totaling over UGX 5 million.
Sources indicate that the singer’s family has so far failed to raise the required amount, leaving the rehab management unwilling to release her or allow her unrestricted movement until the debt is settled.
The situation has sparked concern among fans and fellow creatives, with relatives and close associates calling on well-wishers to step in and help clear the outstanding balance so the singer can regain her freedom.
Reports further suggest that Grace Khan has attempted to reach out to Eddy Kenzo and the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) for assistance, but so far, no response or intervention has been forthcoming.
Grace Khan has been battling drug and alcohol addiction for over three years, frequently checking in and out of rehabilitation facilities. However, insiders say her relapses, especially alcohol use, have made recovery extremely difficult.
As the calls for help grow louder, many are questioning the role of industry leaders and whether enough is being done to support struggling artistes beyond public sympathy.
