Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has given Junior Local Government Minister Justine Nameere seven days to apologise to him, warning that failure to do so could have serious consequences.
Muhoozi issued the ultimatum early Wednesday, September 16, through his X account.
“I’m giving Nameere exactly seven days to apologise to me. If she doesn’t, nothing will save her,” he wrote. The deadline falls on September 23.
The latest warning comes a day after Muhoozi threatened to remove Nameere from Cabinet if she was found to be “misbehaving.”
“If Nameere is misbehaving, it’s a very simple problem. We shall remove her from the Cabinet. That’s a very simple thing,” he wrote on Tuesday.
The dispute follows a circulating video involving Nameere that appeared to show her warning Muhoozi against interfering with NRM legislators. However, a longer version of the video reportedly shows that she was addressing Patriotic League of Uganda Secretary General Daudi Kabanda, rather than the CDF.
The minister has also previously denied claims that she was organising a celebration for former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, saying a viral clip linked to the allegation had been edited from an older recording.
As of Wednesday morning, Nameere had not publicly responded to Muhoozi’s seven-day ultimatum.
