SINGER IRENE NTALE is one of the most talked about singer currently in the music industry after quitting Muyenga based Swangz Avenue where she had been signed for 4 years. The music label is also responsible for artistes like Winnie Nwagi, Zulanda, Black Skin and Vero a.k.a Vinka. We will share with you some of the reasons why it's very hard to shine after dropping your manager.
No managerial Skills
Most artistes don’t know how to deal with their clients and fans. They can’t negotiate business. The managers do bargain on behalf for them. Managers are more experienced when it comes to dealing clients and brands. Ntale has hired her young sister Sandra Ntale, who lacks experience in the music industry. Every artiste needs a manager who can push their music on radios, clubs, and TV stations among places.
They are not creators
Most of Uganda artistes especially the female acts, can’t write music not even the name in the song. Few of them like Cindy can jot down lyrics of their songs. They can sing beautifully but most of the times the songs are written other people like Ray signature, Radio, Silver Kyagulanyi among others. Some of these artistes include; Rema, Mariam Ndagire, Juliana Kanyomozi, Sheeba, ,Irene Ntale, Winnie Nwagi among others. The managers’ work around the clock and hook with the writers that can perfectly get the job done. The job of the artiste is to show up in the studio, cram the lyrics and sing the song.
When left alone it becomes a hard task to find a good song writer and chances are she might not have contact with many of these writers.
Lazy
The ‘I will do it tomorrow syndrome’ grows exponentially among artistes that are not managed by labels. The management is always on top of their game. They have a timetable when an artist is supposed to do interviews, video shoots, and recording sessions. Sometimes even send a driver to come pick the artiste. Artistes who are sole, sometimes fail to push things around.
Meeting self pleasure
Attaining independence after managed is very tricky for many artistes. After dropping management, they all get to do things that they want without restrictions. This hugely drives artistes out of shape and focus for example outing out music without a proper promotion program, getting wasted and missing out on interviews etc.Indiscipline is the mother of all problems and in the end you favorite musician gets dissolved.
Lack of contacts,
Many of them after partying ways with music labels, they lose all the vital connections management had.
Management just arranges when, where, from whom the artiste gets a services so most likely they don't have a personal relationship with the clients
