Legendary artist Moses Matovu doesn’t think highly of the Ugandan music industry. In his view, the industry is backward and stunted.
The singer highlights selfishness among musicians as a major reason that has deterred the industry from growing.
“People here don’t know how to do live music. When you go to Kenya, they are far ahead. We have jokers here,” he said in an interview
Adding that, “They are selfish. When one artist has a hit song, he or she thinks they are on top of the world and can’t take advice from anyone else.”
“Afrigo has many songs. If we were to behave like these other musicians, I think we wouldn’t even be greeting people. We have many songs, multiple hits. Our talents here should pick a leaf and stay humble," he concluded.
Afrigo is the longest-lasting musical group in the history of Uganda, having made 45 years by August last year.
