Dancehall musician Kapeke has taken a swipe at fellow singer Joshua Baraka, claiming the “Morocco” hitmaker survives largely on collaborations, it has emerged.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Kapeke rated himself highly and suggested that Joshua Baraka has not introduced anything new to the industry.

Kapeke argued that collaborations are a normal part of the music business, noting that even established artistes have done them before.

“Other artists have made similar collaborations before. Eddy Kenzo has worked with Patoranking, and Fik Fameica has done the same. So Joshua Baraka isn’t doing anything new, it’s normal and part of the job. Just like I would collaborate with Kenzo or Sheebah Karungi, that’s how we stay relevant. However Joshua works with many people, but personally, I am more selective about who I collaborate with. I do not work with everyone because I have my own influence unlike him,” he partly explained.

Despite the criticism, Kapeke revealed in the same interview that he would still be open to collaborating with Joshua Baraka if the right opportunity presented itself.
