The Uganda people defense forces, UPDF will today evening elect 10 members to represent them in the 10th parliament.

According to the 1995 constitution of Uganda, the UPDF is represented in Parliament as one of the special interest groups.

The force is currently represented by Lieutenant General Charles Angina, Brig. Phinehas Manoni Katirima, Gen Katumba Wamala, Capt Lakot Susan, Gen Elly Tumwine, Maj Sarah Mpabwa, Maj Gen Oketta Julius Facki, Brigadier Innocent Felix Oula, Maj. Gen. Jim Owesigyire and the late Gen Aronda Nyakairima who is expected to be replaced today.

Today’s elections will be witnessed by the commander in chief, President Yoweri Museveni who is flying in from Arusha Tanzania where he has been for days.

Jotham Taremwa, the electoral commission Spokesperson says they are ready to conduct the election freely, and that the country will be in the know of the representatives by the end of today.
