The police have in custody a Congolese national of Nyamulenge ethnic tribe identified as Major Barrack Anan who had come to the refugee office within Old Kampala Police Station in Central division, on March 29th 2016, seeking to be registered as an asylum seeker.
According to Fred Enanga the police spokesperson, in the course of interviewing him, it was discovered that in the year 2000, Major Anan joined the rebel group of Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDRL) and has allegedly been visiting different refugee camps in Uganda to purposely recruit refugees into their ranks, and send them to their training centre at Nganga in North Kivu Province, Dr. Congo which is a strong base of FDRL rebel.
“More intelligence is being carried out with a view of tracking down his associates that include suspected rebel commandrs; Col. Mbarushimana, Major Musabimana Claude, Capt. Shirambere plus Capt. Bazimpora,” Enanga said.
The police mouthpiece added; “the suspect Barrack Anan who is in custody at Old Kampala Police Station is being interrogated with a view of getting more information about his suspicious rebel recruitment.”
