The Uganda peoples defence force spokesperson Lt. Col. Paddy Ankunda has rallied members of the public to remain calm during the week as more deployments are made in and around kampala.

The deployments are meant to frustrate any kinds of attacks from enemies who might want to sabotage President Museveni’s swearing in ceremony.

Ankunda explains that they do not want a repeat of the 2011 incidences where protesters blocked the convoys of different dignitaries including the then Nigerian President Good Luck Jonathan.

Ankuda says; “Soldiers are a symbol of security; UPDF uniform is a sign of security. We have intelligence that some people may want to disrupt this occasion and that is unconstitutional and therefore we are leaving no stone unturned.”

He added; “We are going to have soldiers performing the traditional parade. The fly-past performed by the jets and choppers is an additional ceremony that is meant to make this colorful. We are not going to have tanks and other equipment on the ground.”
