Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye, former presidential candidate of the opposition forum for democratic change party, will next week on Monday be arraigned before court, according to Polly Namaye, the deputy police spokesperson.

Speaking to the media in Kampala this morning, Namaye intimated that they have forwarded the file to the director public prosecution, DPP Michael Chibita, to advise on the case, and if he will permit, they will arraign Besigye to court.

She adds that the opposition iron man is facing charges of breaking the public management order law, and going against a court order issued by the deputy chief justice, Stephen Kavuma banning all FDC activities.

Besigye’s troubles started when he surprisingly showed up in town on Tuesday, after beating the security lock down at his Kasangati home.

On Wednesday evening, the police airlifted Besigye to Moroto to stop him from disrupting the swearing in of President Museveni which was on Thursday.

A team of opposition leaders on Thursday visited Besigye at Moroto police station where he is being held.
