President Yoweri Museveni has launched Public Relations firms that will represent Uganda in USA, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria & Switzerland.
The firms being engaged under CEDP-World Bank funding include PHG-North America; Kamageo-UK and Ireland; KPRN-Germany, Austria & Switzerland.
The president also handed over the marketing contracts to Tim Henshall a representative of Kamageo Africa and Hanna Kleber a representative of KPRN at State house.
He also welcomed the idea of market representatives.
PHG Consulting will now handle North America; Kamageo Africa will handle UK and Ireland, while KPRN network will handle Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
H.E Museveni said; “The PR firms will support the Ugandan government in promoting Uganda’s Tourism Products and Services to our key source markets. We are an all year round destination with great weather, variety of Tourism attractions like mountains with snow.”
Museveni urged ministry of tourism to quickly upgrade the Hotel and Tourism Training Institute in Jinja for better quality and skilled labour force.
Stephen Asiimwe, the executive director Uganda Tourism board said the core objective is to ensure Kamageo Africa KPRN network and PHG Consulting leverage Uganda as a Prime Tourism Destination.
The development comes barely a week after Uganda was selected among the top 10 International Tourism Destinations for 2016 during the Global Tourism Destination Carnival held in Hainan, China where Uganda Tourism Board participated alongside the Ugandan Embassy in Beijing.
