Earlier this week, musician Eddy Kenzo expressed disappointment with the organizers of the coffee marathon for fronting a foreign artist, Diamond Platnumz, instead of Ugandan artists.

He was most aggrieved by the 750 million Uganda shillings allegedly paid to Diamond. He also spoke about the luxurious lifestyle offered to the Tanzanian star and the neglect of local artists.

With different calls from a section of Ugandans for local artists to improve their branding, Kenzo says he can never copy anything from Diamond Platnumz.

The Big Talent boss says he comes from a humble background and would rather spend the money with the Ghetto children and youths instead of living a luxurious lifestyle.

"I can't copy anything from Diamond Platnumz. Whatever they are speaking about—branding and everything—I can't be like that. I can't start wearing twenty golden chains; my background doesn't allow me to do that. I can't live a luxurious lifestyle when the Ghetto kids are suffering. I'd rather take that money to them and improve the youths," he explained in an interview with a local television station.

Diamond Platnumz and Eddy Kenzo are arguably the biggest artists in East Africa globally. However, Kenzo remains ahead in terms of the awards he has won and his Grammy Awards nomination.
