Social media influencer and entrepreneur Prima Kadarshi has explained why she left Makula TV shortly after joining the station, dismissing claims that she was fired because of alleged bad behaviour.
According to Prima, her decision to leave was mainly driven by salary and what she considered an unsustainable working arrangement.
She said she was initially invited for an audition and told the station that her expected salary was Shs4 million, an amount she claims was not rejected during the initial discussions.
However, after joining the station, Prima said she was informed that her lack of television experience meant she would start on Shs1 million per month for three months, after which her performance would be evaluated.
She accepted the arrangement and continued working, but said the promised salary review did not happen after the trial period.
“After three months, they told me they didn’t have money to increase my salary,” she said.
Prima said she subsequently decided to leave because she felt the pay did not match the demands of the job, particularly given her status as a public figure and business owner.
She noted that she could earn the same amount or more by staying home and focusing on her businesses.
Prima also denied claims that behavioural problems contributed to her departure, describing her time at Makula TV as a positive experience.
She recalled having a good working relationship with her co-hosts, Zubeda and Amooti Omubalanguzi, and said she often brought food and positive energy to the workplace.
