5 pupils died and 5 others were hospitalized after being hit by lightning at Nyakabingo Primary School today afternoon amid a rare series of thunderstorms in sprinkling rain in Kakanzu Sub County – Bushenyi District, according to officials at Ishaka Police Station.
The strike occurred at about 1:50 p.m in the school compound where, we are being told, the students were playing in the drizzling rain.

Officials tell Howwe that a powerful bolt of lightning hit the 10 students leaving 1 of the injured 5 in a very bad condition and killed 5 others on the spot.
The 5 injured students were rushed to KIU hospital for immediate treatment while the dead bodies of the other 5 taken to the morgue as they waited for their parents to claim them.
