At least 50 people are feared dead after they drowned in Entebbe beaches during Christmas festivities.
However, Mr Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, says 13 are reported dead as the deceased were picked up between December 23 and 27 at different beaches within Entebbe.
“We took the bodies to Mulago Hospital for postmortem and we have embarked on investigations to establish the exact cause of their death,” said Mr Onyango.
Mr Onyango identified the deceased as Brian Nsubuga, 22, a resident of Kayunga District, Allan Mubiru, 17, a resident of Nateete, a Kampala suburb, and Abubaker Ffensolyian, a resident of Kawempe, also a Kampala suburb, Haruna Mubiru, Ssula Kato, Arafat Kabonge, Richard Ssenyondo and Abdul Wakayeli.
Meanwhile, alternative sources say 50 people reported missing, 20 bodies recovered from the lake-shore surrounding Aero, Lido and Speenah Beaches believed to be Boxing Day revelers who drowned under unknown circumstances.
