Police at Arua Central Police Station have in custody a shameless 19-year-old woman for allegedly stealing a little baby.

The lazy woman who could not have her own child but resorted to stealing someone else’s baby is identified as Sharon Drifezu Candiru, a resident of Vurra customs in Vurra sub county.

She was arrested on Sunday at Arua California Bus terminal with a one-month-old baby girl only identified as Nicol whom she was trying to sneak away. The mother of the baby is only identified as Jackie, a resident of Nabingo along Masaka road.

The police spokesperson for North Western Region Josephine Angucia, says the thief was arrested following communication from police in Kampala that, she stole a baby and proceeded with her to Arua.

Police detectives in Arua then mounted a search on all the buses arriving and found Candiru with the baby aboard a California bus which had just arrived from Kampala.

On interrogation, Candiru revealed that she stole the baby because her boss failed to pay her for two months.

Angucia explains Candiru will be transferred to Kampala and handed over to police in Nabingo to be charged.
