Police in Ibanda has launched a serious hunt for a man who is on the run after he reportedly strangled his wife to death on Wednesday evening.

Edgar Kafuba, who is from Ishaka in Bushenyi district, had shifted to Kajwamuhoro area in Keihangara sub county of Ibanda district where he has lived for two years.

The suspect reportedly hacked his lover Judith Kendengyeya, barely a year after they started living together.

Local residents say the suspect developed a misunderstanding with the lover before strangling her. The suspect reportedly ran away and a neighbor who had come to check on them only found Kendegyeya's lifeless body before alerting the police.

, the IDenis Ochamabanda district police commander, told our reporter that the police has launched a man-hunt for the suspect. Ochama says that the police also arrested William Museveni, the Kajwamuhoro local council one chairperson to help with investigations.

Ochama  says local residents destroyed property belonging to the suspect and the deceased after learning of the incident.

The incident is the fifth in less than two months in the Ankole sub region where death has been registered in domestic fights.
