Police in Wakiso are holding over 160 suspected thugs accused of terrorizing and stealing from locals.
The suspects were arrested on Friday at 3:00 am from different parts of Wakiso during a Joint intelligence-led operation which was conducted in areas of Nakuwadde, Kireka Bulenga - Kikaya village, and Gogonya village Nakabugo Parish Wakiso sub-county in Wakiso district.
Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson says the ongoing operation was carried out following increased criminality in the areas and public outcry.
Owoyesigyire says the police received information that criminal elements frequent the B13 bar in Nakuwade and a trap was laid for them. He says members of the same criminal gang were arrested.
The suspects are currently detained at different police stations in the Wakiso Policing area, pending prosecution.
He adds that exhibits including narcotic substances and suspected stolen items were recovered on the suspects.
